Down to the city

The East Tirolean capital city is often referred to as the Sunny city: With over 2.000 hours of sun this small city in the heart of the Dolomites is one of the sunniest places in Austria. The Mediterranean flair of the city is not only noticeable in the warmer months and in the Old town you may find one or two palm trees. In the charming city centre are a collection of boutiques, hand craft businesses, cafés and bars that invite you to linger.

The “Leibburg” castle lies directly in the main square: With its unmistakeable onion domes it paints an artistic background for strolling around the city. The castle was a residence for aristocrats usually residing in Bruck castle. The Bruck castle is situated close to the city on the Schlossberg and contains a collection of work from the East Tirolean artist Albin Egger-Lienz. It also has varied exhibitions about country and folk.
